ABSTRACT
Dear Reviewers,
I am truly delighted and honored to support Susan (Susie, as I believe she prefers) Leigh’s nomination for the Ellen
L. Stovall Award (Health Professional).
Nomination letters from Ana Maria Lopez, PJ Haylock, and Lois J. Loescher offer thorough and excellent
descriptions of Susie, her professional history, and her long journey with cancer, which is still under control 50
years after its onset. Susie’s hard-working and uncompromising life clearly shows her passion for improving the
course of cancer survivorship journeys, her concern for the well-being of countless cancer survivors, and her tireless
and attentive education of health professionals about cancer survivorship. These are essential evidence of Susie’s
qualifications for this prestigious award. Susie was a close friend of Ellen Stovall and was devastated when she passed
away. In the story I want to tell, both Ellen and Susie have been part of my professional life, albeit in different ways.
