ABSTRACT
Based on the scientific rationale that in cancer, prehabilitation, by definition, involves
interventions aimed at improving patients’ health prior to surgery and/or the start of other
anti-neoplastic therapies, so that they are better able to withstand that stress, this interview
highlights the possibility of applying prehabilitation interventions to improve COVID-19
outcomes, particularly regarding the baseline fitness, nutrition, smoking cessation, and stress
reduction. Furthermore, there is discussion about using interventions through telemedicine, and
the need for future research to understand short- and long-term effects of “social distancing”,
one of the strategies adopted to avoid contagion.
