ABSTRACT
Older cancer survivors experience late adverse events and the on- set of comorbidities caused by treatments or by cancer itself. The- refore, there is a need to address speci c preventive care and he- alth promotion needs such as managing treatment complications. Cancer survivors may have medical care needs, related to chronic and late effects of cancer or speci c treatments, and require spe- cialised services to ensure that all survivors' health needs are met. Although multidisciplinary care models, by pathology and shared care have been analysed, to date it is impossible to establish a sin- gle model that can capture all aspects of care for older cancer sur- vivors. In this regard, the gure of the community oncologist could nd its place in the articulation of older survivorship care; a profes- sional specialised in the management of long-term cancer survivor- ship which can provide a service in the management of treatment sequelae, in the organisation of services dedicated to the patient, and in reducing hospital access.
