Title: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and psycho-oncology in Cancer Rehabilitation in China
Journal Section
Abstract:
Cancer rehabilitation is a new but critical concept to most Chinese cancer patients, caregivers and oncology professions. TCM and psycho-oncology play important roles in cancer rehabilitation in China. TCM is common used and well accepted by Chinese cancer patients and survivors, they found it helpful to improve immune function, relieve symptoms and enhance quality of life; while psycho-oncology is a young but promising subject in China, it also helps cancer patients and survivors with symptom management and psychosocial care. Integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and psycho-oncology into cancer rehabilitation was a new practice model in China. This paper will describe the history, current practice, challenge and opportunities to develop and integrate TCM and psycho-oncology into cancer rehabilitation. More efforts still need to conduct high-quality research, address stigma and language barriers and get more funding supports in this field.
